Potito, fatal tie breaks against Gasquet
22/05/2010What a shame. Potito Starace's run in Open De Nice Cote D'Azur stopped in semis: the Italian player was defeated 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (8-6) by Richard Gasquet. It took the French player two hours to beat a very powerful Potito, who dominated the first set. The match against Gasquet was very balanced, and Potito has a lot of recriminations: he was ahead serving for the first set and he blown a set point; later, in the tie-break of the second set, he led 6-4 and then missed two set points. It was Gasquet's fifth win in six matches against Starace, who was also defeated in double. The team with Andreas Seppi lost 6-3, 6-3 by brazilians Melo/Soares. It was Starace's second Atp semifinal in 2010. The first one was in Casablanca, still on clay courts, when he lost in three sets by Wawrinka. Potito feels ready for the Roland Garros, which will start tomorrow, on May 23th. In round 1 Starace will challenge the Ukrain player Ilya Marchenko.
