His full name is Marcel Granollers Pujol. He began playing at the age of five. His father Javier is a commercial director and his mother Montse is a teacher. He also has a younger brother Gerard (20) who reached a career-high ranking of No. 684 in August 2008. Marcel speaks Spanish and English. He enjoys football and supports R.C.D. Espanyol. He considers clay his favorite surface. He is coached by David de Miguel.
